German term or phrase: Betriebstechniker
This is from a list of training positions (Ausbildungsstellen) offered at a German company. General technician?

operations technician
Explanation:
This would seem to fit a list of training positions. It wouldn't have to be an entry level position, either, although it could be. These technicians tend to specialize in specific fields.

"operations" with an s gets quite a few more google hits than "operation", and the English pages dovetail far better with the German ones as well.

Thanks. I went with Ian's suggestion - factory technician - as there was little context.

disagree  lucasm (X): Hmm, the only thing I can think of when I hear this is the surgeon's assistant in the O.R., but I'm pretty sure that this isn't the case.

neutral  Ian M-H (X): The term is occasionally used, but it isn't good, natural English - "operations technician" is far more common.

agree  Ian M-H (X): This could work if Asker doesn't have enough information to be more specific. "Works technician" or "factory technician" might also be oprions, at least for the UK.

-> Thanks, Ian. I didn't have any UK suggestions
