owned by the Free State of (Bavaria/Saxony) Explanation: Translation will depend on whereabouts in Germany the brewery is located. The Federal Republic of Germany is divided into 16 major adminsitrative regions. The majority are called Bundesland, but two call themselves Freistaat: Freistaat Bayern and Freistaat Sachsen. This is only a name nowadays and does not mean that Bavaria and Saxony are free and independent states. http://userpage.chemie.fu-berlin.de/adressen/bl/bundeslaende... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 17 Min. (2010-09-29 06:33:33 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Okay, it must be BAVARIA in this instance, as you must be talking about Weihenstephan, the oldest brewerey in the world. http://www.brauerei-weihenstephan.de/ |
