German term or phrase: Beauftragter für Afrikapolitik im Auswärtigen Amt
I am translating a schedule, in which visitors from Africa will be welcomed by various German officials and government representatives including the
*Beauftragter für Afrikapolitik im
Auswärtigen Amt*

The title should be as comprehensible and meaningful as possible for English speaking Africans. I thought of Federal Commissioner for African afairs at the German Foreign Ministry although Auswärtiges Amt is usually translated Federal Foreign Office (which sounds like translese to me) and my version sounds long. What do other people think? Suggestions welcome as always.
