Auch die Politische Ökonomie des schottischen Moralphilosophen und Ökonomen Adam Smith (1723 bis 1790) kehrt die Beweislast zugunsten des individuellen Rechts um.
so far I have "Scottish social philosopher and political economist Adam Smith (1723 - 1790) overturns the burden of proof in favor of individual right.." but am not sure of "overturns", perhaps "reverses"?- thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Explanation:
I do not feel happy about the use of the word "reverse" in this context as it does not flow happily to my ears.......and have been racking my brains (whilst getting the children out to school and making breakfast??) about another word for "reverse"......surely this is more a "shift" rather than a reverse....and yet the word "back" gets in the meaning of reversal.... ?

agree  Jim Tucker (X): this is ok too - I understand the uncertainty with "reverse" - but consider this: it's a binary system, like "innocent till proven guilty" - the reverse of that is "guilty till proven innocent" - this sit. is similar as the indiv. and govt don't overlap.
