Science - Geography / polar deserts

Does anyone know the correct term to translate eingebettet here? Embedded, encapsulated perhaps???

Many thanks in advance,

Sheila

situated between
Explanation:
sounds more scientific to me, and gets the idea across. Embedded sounds too solid and permanent for polar deserts. Hidden, nestled, tucked away, are other alternatives.

Many thanks to everyone for their answers and comments - In fact, I had wanted to used 'situated between' here - I think it sounds best in this context.
