Weiterhin wird die sogenannte Doppelhaploiden-Technologie (DH-Technologie) zur Regenerierung von reinerbigen Pflanzen aus Zellkulturen wie unbefruchteten Eizellen oder unreifen Pollenkörnern (Mikrosporen) angewendet. Die DH-Technologie hat den Vorteil, dass der Züchtungsvorgang verkürzt werden kann und es keine unerwünschten Aufspaltungen bei den weiteren Nachkommen gibt.

Das Saatgut, das aus den Hybridpflanzen durch Nachbau gewonnen wird, ist deutlich weniger ertragreich als die Hybride selbst, da durch die beginnende Aufspaltung ca. 50% des Heterosiseffektes wieder verloren gehen.

Die Aufspaltung dieser die Samenschalenfarbe und die Blattbehaarung steuernden Gene unterscheidet sich bei den Doppelthaploiden nicht signifikant von einer nach Zufallsgesetzen erwarteten Spaltung, woraus abzuleiten ist, dass bei B. juncea Doppelthaploide fuer genetische Untersuchungen durchaus geeignet sind und wahrscheinlich auch fuer die Entwicklung neuer Sorten verwendet werden koennen.

The segregation of genes controlling seed color and leaf hairs in doubled haploid progeny did not differ significantly from that expected under random assortment, indicating that doubled haploids can be used in this species for genetic studies, and probably cultivar development as well.
