Heute habe ich noch in meine Wörterbücher geschaut und meine Deutung wieder mal bestätigt gefunden:

absichern:
1. to safeguard, (garantieren) to cover; (Bauplatz) to make safe; (Daten) to store, (schützen) to protect; jdn über die Landesliste absichern (Pol) to give sb a safe seat
2. (scih schützen) to protect oneself; (sich versichern) to cover oneself

Hinweis: "to support" wird erwähnt, nicht aber "to verify"

Fazit: Auch diesmal hatte ich Recht. Kims Kommentar "to support findings is to verify" ist damit widerlegt. Kimm hätte das als native speaker wissen müssen. Aber er widerspricht mir immer. Ich kann mich an keine Zustimmung von seiner Seite erinnern.
