This is from a list of definitions of motor vehicle parts in an insurance contract and I'm stuck with this one. Does anyone have a standard English term? TIA!

This is what its called in the service manual for my turbocharged car. "Aufladeaggregate" refers to all the parts involved in the supercharging/turbocharging system: the turbocharger itself, the intercooler, bypass valve etc.

As your sentence is vague, you can get away with "supercharging system".

Extra thanks to Frank and Klaus for revising their answers and making me feel less inadequate for not having been able to research it on my own in the first place!

I've gone for "supercharging/turbocharging system", taking TTitrans's support for "SUPERCHARGING SYSTEM" or "TURBOCHARGING/SUPERCHARGING" into account as being worth at least half an "agree" with TrasnWolf (see also Mr Lee's comment).

Explanation:
If name of category. Cannot be just supercharger because category includes "Ladeluftkuhler" (intercooler or chargecooler which only work with turbos). With a supercharger which has a mechanical drive, intercooler would not make sense. :-)

Explanation:
About as common as Aufladeaggregate (12 Googles for German, 17 relevant hits for fuel charging ass'y plus an extra 5 for plural). While I agree that supercharged is commonly used for anything from turbo to roots blower, I wouldn't use it in a contract as it can be construed to exclude turbo charging. You don't write Tempos in a contract if you want to refer to all kinds of hankies. Same here.

  -> Thank you, TransWolf. You are right. Sorry Ian, obviously, I didn't research this term good enough. However, I continue to believe that supercharger isn't the best choice in a contract. Turbocharging / supercharging system is fine.

  -> It's the same thing mate, some people call it a "blow-off valve".
agree  Francis Lee (X): supercharger is probably common parlance, but technically this is correct; but why only "neutral", Titrans (seeing as you've recommended it at the top)?
