German term or phrase: Rennleitungswagen
Highlights waren neben einer Wettfahrt zwischen dem Rennleitungswagen und einem Audi A3 die rasanten Fahrten des Batterie betriebenen Rennwagens auf dem abgesteckten Parcours.

I'm having a problem with the word -- Rennleitungswagen -- would pace car be a suitable translation for this or does someone have a better idea.

My translation: An additional highlight next to the race between the pace car and an Audi A3 was a swift ride in a battery powered race car on a defined racing course.

I'd appreciate any suggestions (tips) you can offer.
Thanks in advance.
Pam

agree  David Moore (X): You're quite right Richard - it does say "racing car", but I have my reservations as to whther it is one - it certainly reads as if it were the safety car that is meant! If the writer had used "a" instead of "the", I'd think differently.

-> Thanks David, pls see my comment above. Though you are *probably* right, I really think that client consultation is required here instead of simply changing something of which we are not sure.
