German term or phrase: Aggregateraum
I am translating a list of material names/ component names for the master data for vehicle parts. The document is for a company that specialises in vehicle bodies.
Two entries are
"Zusammenbau Dichtung Aggregateraum vorne"
"Zusammenbau Dichtung Aggregateraum hinten"

I have found a patent which describes it and calls it a "unit area" but I am not happy with this translation.

The website starts with an abtract:
"An aggregate space for the battery, wiper motor, relays and similar vehicle aggregates arranged within the area of the engine space of a motor vehicle, which is subdivided from the engine space, properly speaking, by at least one partition wall and is constructed as a space that is closed but readily accessible; the space is also adapted to be vented by inlet and discharge openings which are arranged at special locations to utilize a high pressure drop."

disagree  Richard Stephen: Are you talking about the engine compartment? Do you know of any cars with auxiliary engines? Or do you mean a compartment where electric motors are installed for some other application? But what would these motors be? - AS I

agree  Richard Stephen: I should have looked it up - you're right - except my DB 2008-02-08 only lists your second choice - "major assemblies compartment"
