Ausgleichsbehälter
expansion tank

Explanation:
Newer vehicles feature a reservoir (expansion tank) that you can access anytime. Beware: Some German and Swedish cars (and others) have a reservoir that's under pressure (pressure cap on the tank vs. a flip-off type plastic top) and these should not be opened when the engine is hot.

neutral  Teresa Reinhardt: This gets 53 Google hits (mostly sites by German firms), expansion tank gets 965 000 (IN QUOTES, of course!) I also work for Caterpillar, where it is standard for all hydraulics. BTW, I found your answer somewhat rude

-> For compensator reservoir I got 39,800 Google hits - and an excellent English ref. from ZF. The purpose of the reservoir is to stop air entering the system, not fluid expansion. Rudeness unintended, actually it was a hint not to rely too much on Google!
