THE inaugural Greater Taree Design Excellence Awards will be held next year, rewarding and raising the profile of design excellence across the Manning Valley.

New developments (both business and residential), heritage restorations and colour schemes, landscaping, disability access and ecological sustainability will be eligible for judging by a team of six people from within and outside the area. The judging panel is expected to comprise an architect from the country division of the NSW Branch of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects, suitably qualified academic persons involved with urban and regional design from the Universities of Newcastle and New England, the city council's heritage adviser, the mayor, and a community representative.

Mein Vorschlag bedarf allerdings einiger Bastelei, was den Satzbau angeht..muss ich selber nochmal drüber nachdenken

Vielleicht geht es so: Its characteristics need to answer to the requirements of a progressive working environment as well as establish it as a prime location.

agree  Paul Cohen: Yup, that's my understanding of the word here as well, although "zukunftsweisend" would probably be something along the lines of "groundbreaking" or "innovative" or "visionary". "Progressive" sounds like a political approach to me.
