Reason why I didn't propose 'replant': It sounds like the farmer has had second thoughts, has dug the cereal shoots up and put them elsewhere in the field.

  -> Whilst it may be possible to ‘replant a field’ with the same crop, it is not possible to ‘replant a crop’ without first uprooting it. This is the just way the English language works.

neutral  Cetacea: While "replant" may suggest something else to a hobby gardener, the meaning will be perfectly clear to the farmers this text is obviously aimed at. They don't need an "explanatory translation" in the form of "second crop" or "subsequent crop".
