ground ear maize Explanation: Agriculture Dictionary Langenscheidt: Lieschblatt – husk leaf, shuck, husk (maize) LKS (Lieschkolbenschrot) – a product of divided corn harvest; ensiled corn cobs with leaves vfu-www.vfu.cz/vegetabilie/plodiny/Field_crops.doc Lieschkolbenschrot (LKS) - ground ear maize http://rostelecom.de/dict/index.php?l1=de&l2=en&de=&en=&von=... Ground ear maize (GEM) is the name being given to the finished product. It is not quite a corn-cob mix (CCM) because it has a portion of the leaf around the cob still present. Dr George Keane of UCD did some preliminary work last year with cob samples removed by hand from the field. George's product had even more of the leaves present around the cob, as some of these were stripped off during mechanical harvesting. http://www.farmersjournal.ie/2004/1120/farmmanagement/crops/... |
