German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Agriculture
German term or phrase: pflanzliche Erzeugung/tierische Erzeugung
These terms are used on the back of a "Prüfungszeugnis - Landwirt" detailing the grades achieved in the individual exam sections. They are listed under Section 1: Fertigkeitsprüfung (practical knowledge/exam?) as well as under Section 2: Kenntnisprüfung (theoretical knowledge/exam?)

I am really at a loss here: organic production and animal production? This sounds a little far fetched for me.

I'd be grateful for any help!

Explanation:
I have a very shrewd suspicion this is used euphemistically as above. I would say these are certainly aspects of an examination on which an intending Landwirt would have to answer questions...

vegetable products and animal products

Explanation:
Or: vegetable produce and animal or produce

IMO this subject field teaches and tests knowledge of vegetable and animal products. However, this would cover all aspects, including production and end-products.

disagree  Assem Mazloum: husbandry means not production but "scientificly taking care" of animals as in vet /en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_husbandry - 45k -

agree  Armorel Young: I have no problem with "animal husbandry" - I think this is about keeping animals for food, which is precisely what animal husbandry is about.

agree  Cetacea: That's exactly what they're called, "Erzeugung" being the "German" German equivalent of production. Cf. e.g. http://www.fao.org/AG/

"Pflanzliche Erzeugung" and "Tierische Erzeugung"
crop cultivation and animal rearing

Explanation:
The underlying question is whether this about the propagation/breeding of plants/animals or the Erzeugung of food from plants and animals, and I think it is the latter. If you look, for example, at the book called "Pflanzliche Erzeugung" described here:-
http://www.amazon.de/Landwirtschaft-Pflanzliche-Erzeugung-Ma...
the book is described as present "Grundlagen des Acker- und Pflanzenbaus" - in other words it is about crop cultivation. So I think your headings are about growing crops and keeping animals for food.
