Hence also the talk of summer and autumn fruits (whereas there is no mention of spring or winter fruits because no fruits are being harvested then). Thanks for the answer, e-rich. I also had a hunch that apples and pears and other "storable" fruits were meant here. But I couldn't find an English term. I've decided to go with off-season storable fruits.
