Context:

Erster handschriftlicher Entwurf zu Raatz’ Hauptwerk, der Entwicklung einer Wertzahlentabelle zur Rübenselektion. Die Tabelle stammt aus dem ersten Band der »Botanischen Berichte« (1896), in denen jahrgangsweise alle Informationen zu den Zuchtprogrammen aufgeschrieben wurden. Auf der Tabelle sind vertikal die Gewichtsklassen mit entsprechenden Taxzahlen und horizontal der Zuckergehalt und die Taxzahlen eingetragen. Die Wertzahlen ergeben sich aus dem geometrischen Mittel der Taxzahlen. Züchterisch interessant waren nach dieser Tabelle, die später noch modifiziert und erweitert wurde, nur Rüben mit Wertzahlen, die zwischen 10 und 12 lagen.
