unreliable Explanation: I would use "unreliable" as a direct translation of "reparaturanfällig". Of course, when you are asking how to translate "geringe Reparaturanfälligkeit", then I totally agree with Steffen´s reply and translation of the example sentence. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 10 hrs (2007-01-17 20:53:46 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Maybe I missed something, but isn´t the term in this particular question "reparaturanfällig"? |

"Reparaturanfälligkeit" könnte ansonsten auch ausgedrückt werden als "to be in need of frequent repairs / susceptible to failure [breakdown]". Vorschlag erster Satz: One reason for the machines' attractiveness is their high reliability [the fact that they are highly reliable]. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 22 mins (2007-01-17 10:36:22 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Andersherum kann man auch von einer "superior/high (degree/rate of) availability" sprechen (Verfügbarkeit der Maschinen, analog zu "plant availability" = Anlagenverfügbarkeit). -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 23 hrs (2007-01-18 09:17:19 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Wenn es um solche "kleineren" Teile geht, wäre vielleicht eher von Verschleiß zu sprechen, also "wear and tear", "wearing (out)" usw.. Also positiv in etwa "to be highly wear-resistant/have a high wear resistance" oder negativ "spikes(?)/attachments wear out prematurely" (ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob Zinken "spikes" sind) oder "spikes/attachments have to replaced prematurely" oder "s./a. show an abnormal degree of wear". -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 23 hrs (2007-01-18 09:17:40 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- wear resistance = Verschleißfestigkeit |
