Se non ho proprio preso un abbaglio, trattamento a lungo termine si dice (dà anche molti risultati se provi a scriverlo su Google) e in più mi sembra che sia logico nella tua frase. Si parla anche di controlli regolari. Mi sto autoconvincendo?! :o)

Carcando sul Garzanti 'termine' compare anche questo significato:
"a breve, lungo —, (anche fig.) à court, long terme (o à courte, longue échéance")
Perciò credo che ci siamo!
