Non riesco a capire se 'adossés' significhi FISICAMENTE addossati al centro di ricerca o se, in senso figurato, si appoggiano al centro di ricerca.

Grazie mille per l'aiuto, è piuttosto urgente!

O 'a supporto', se vuoi ...
Credo che il significato sia il secondo che hai ipotizzato, altrimenti non ci sarebbe quel 'désormais' che allude ad una situazione temporale, che si è creata nel tempo.
Se si dovesse trattare di una situazione FISICA, non ci starebbe quel 'désormais', perché le costruzioni non cambiano facilmente postazione ... IMHO

agree  Simone Giovannini: "S'addosser" significa più che altro "appoggiarsi". Ci si può appoggiare restando tuttavia indipendenti e non per forza risultare "dipendenti" o "facenti parte" da/di qualcosa di esterno. A mio avviso è la traduzione migliore.
