boar, hog Explanation: الفهرست ، ص 305 . نام اين سردار در نسخه ي الفهرست به صورت شهريزاد نوشته شده كه تحريفي از شهر براز است . اين نام در كتابهاي عربي غالبا تحريف شده ، در تاريخ ابن اثير به صورت شهريزان ، و در كتاب السعاده و الاسعاد به صورت شهر ايران (ص 322-324 ) آمده ، ولي در تاريخ طبري صورت صحيح آن شهر براز ذكر شده ( 1/1062) . براز شكل عربي شده ي وراز است كه امروز هم در لهجه هاي محلي غرب ايران به جاي گراز گفته مي شود . در شاهنامه اين سردار همه جا به نام گراز ذكر شده . در دوره ي ساساني لقبهائي كه از نام حيوانات روزمند گرفته مي شده براي سرداران و دلاوران بي سابقه نبوده است . در لقبهاي اين دوران نامهائي چون خوگبد و اسب بد هم ديده شده .
