Greetings,

My dictionary gives the meaning of the above word as “knitted work”, “knitwork”, so presumably شرکت٭کشباف = knitwear factory?

The only complication is that Gilbert Lazard’s grammar translates شرکت٭کشباف as“Stretch fabrics Company” / “Elastic fabrics Company” – something very different from wool.

Incidentally, is it possible to analyse the words which make up کشباف, perhaps کش and باف?

Best wishes,

Simon

knitted fabrics; knitwear; knitted work; stretch fabrics

Explanation:
All the options you have proposed are correct. As for the analysis, yes again you are right. The word is composed of کش and باف. The word کش means something that stretches and باف is the root of بافتن = weave or knit. So the new word something that is knitted and that can be stretched.

My apologies for the typo in the last sentence. Correction:

So the new word is something that is knitted ...

knit

Explanation:
Dear Simon in textile industry which most of the usages of the word کشباف occurs knit is used there are other usages of course but the ones as knitted fabric isتریکو and knit fabric is پارچه کشباف and knit wear is لباس کشبافی and I have to say you can be creative but it is more appropriate to follow the existing equivalents. All the best

elastic

Explanation:
I think for any sort of cloths, it is said that the material is elastic, that means if it is pulled from sides, it enlarges.

Example sentence(s):
  • It is elastic; it suits all sizes.
