Science - Geology / Precious Stones
Persian (Farsi) term or phrase: یاقوت
Hi,

It's from a line we have already seen:
بیجاده نوعی یاقوت است که طبیعت گرم وخشک دارد و گویند کاه را می‌رباید

My line of reasoning is this: if, as I am told, بیجاده is amber, then یاقوت cannot mean ruby (which it does according to my admittedly limited dictionary).

Is it possible that یاقوت = گوهر here? I.e. "precious stone" in general, not specifically "ruby"?

Best,

Simon
