English term or phrase: By this book!
Greetings,

If someone holds a book in his hands and swears by it, how do you say this, please?

E.g. “By this book! I will always be a good friend to you.” This might be interpreted as “By this book I swear that I will always be a good friend to you.”

Although the English is literary, I'd be very interested if you have a more colloquial equivalent - perhaps expressions of this kind have not become old-fashioned in your culture.

Best wishes, and many thanks,

Simon

Kitaba el basarım!

Explanation:
"Kitaba el basmak", dilimizde hem nazım hem de nesir türünden pek çok edebi eserde yer alan, kitabın hangisi olduğunu belirtmeksizin kuvvetli bir inandırıcılık barındıran deyimlerden biri.
