Hello,

We already have the translation of Antibacterial Medical Honey as Antibakteriyel Yara Jeli.

It has however been bought to our attention there may be a misinterpretation with this translation.
In this product the 'medical' honey refers to 'medical grade' honey and not 'medicinal' honey or therapeutic honey.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could confirm that Antibakteriyel Yara Jeli is the correct translation in terms of 'medical grade' honey and not 'medicinal' honey or whether a more suitable translation is appropriate.

I would propose the same answer; however, what made me think for a moment is that the expression "yara jeli" is not so common. Almost all such products are named "yara kremi." However, I believe "gel" cannot be translated as "krem" since gel and cream are different substances.

Here are definitions by TLA (Turkish Language Association) for the two words in question:

Merhem (ointment, salve): Deriye sürülerek kullanılan, içinde birçok etkili madde bulunan, yumuşak ve koyu kıvamda, yağlı veya yağsız ilaç (Oil containing or non-oil containing medicine of smooth and thick consistency, which holds various active agents and is used by rubbing over the skin)

Jel (gel): Tedavi amacıyla kullanılan jöle yapısında bir krem türü (A type of cream in jelly formation that is used for treatment)

In the light of the definitions given above, we see that what discriminates gels from other types of substances is that they have a jelly (gelatinous) formation. This means that they are TRANSPARENT, COLOURLESS AND ODOURLESS.
