English term or phrase: puberal group
I en psykologitext om ungdomsperioden: "The fourth type of adolescent is the most common, is that who leaving childhood is able to join a community of peers. In our culture often the group is at the beginning a same-sex group, that Meltzer calls “puberal group”. This group is not that of latency, which is basically “a group of friends”. This instead is a group kept together by intense processes of identification. This means that the young members find their “us” identity in a concrete or fantasmatic confrontation with “them”, the others. This is a stage of the “closed-door” talks till late at night, the stage when the youth of the opposite sex are feared or challenged as in a sort of exciting war."

Det är alltså de tidiga tonåren till skillnad från de senare tonåren.
