Jag har aldrig hört termen i det sammanhanget, men "Compound Video Signal" -> "Sammansatt videosignal", så kanske kan man översätta med "sammansatt spänning", "sammansättning av spänningar"?

Asker: har först nu fått en förklaring: compounding is when two voltages are used together for the excitation of an AC generator;One voltage is equal to the output voltage of the generator and the other is the same as the load current. These two voltages are combined on one circuit.
