CAN protokol je ISO standard (ISO 11898) za serijsku komunikacija, razvijen prvenstveno za potrebe auto industrije. Danas, CAN je široko korišćen kod industrijske automatizacije i pokretnih mašina. CAN protokol je implementiran u silicijumu, što omogućuje korekciju greške i- obradu gresaka i sposobnost ogranicenja nedostataka uz veliku brzinu prenosa. Inteligentni algoritmi za distribuciju poruka doprinose dobroj iskorišćenosti propusnog opsega. Uobičajeni medijum kod CAN mreže je upredena parica. Za određene primene, koriste se i druge vrste veza, npr. optički i radio linkovi.

CAN is not translated. I think that DTC is not translated either (Device Type Code or whatever)
