English term or phrase: bench-scale laboratories
bench-scale laboratories – those in which the scale of activity is that associated with benches and with equipment other than benches but of a similar scale, such as refrigerators, centrifuges and fume cupboards. They do not apply to teaching labs (where larger areas are required) nor to projects that consists primarily of non-standard labs, such as high-risk biohazardous containment facilities; for these a module should be chosen that suits the lab unit size called for in the brief.
