Apply hydraulic oil onto the inside of bearings. Install bearings to shafts by using a press. Set the pre-loads of bearings installed on shaft according to the following procedures:
Apply hydraulic oil onto the thread part of bearing nut. Tighten bearing nut until bearing nut comes in contact with bearing by using special tool.

Sesuai dg kutipan di bawah ini,
preload: besarnya beban yg diberikan pada komponen putar bantalan sebelum pemberian beban luar, yaitu beban yg ditimbulkan oleh poros yg diberi bantalan tsb.

Pada bantalan tipe X dan C, preload disetel dg mengatur kepasan internal peluru dan lintasannya di pabrik.

Pada bantalan kontak sudut, preload diatur dg menyetel 'celah preload' di antara lintasan ganda.

Pemasangan yg ketat meningkatkan preload bantalan. Preload memperkuat bantalan dan menghilangkan ruang kosong aksial (sejajar dg poros) dan radial (tegak lurus terhadap poros), tapi beban yg ditimbulkan pada peluru meningkatkan gesekan dan memperpendek usia pakai bantalan.

Dari uraian di atas:
a. preload adalah beban yg diberikan pada komponen putar bantalan sebelum pemberian beban luar
b. preload diatur dg mengatur kepasan internal antara peluru dan lintasannya
c. preload yg besar akan memperkuat bantalan tapi meningkatkan gesekan dan memperpendek usia pakai bantalan.

Karena itu, dapat disimpulkan

The amount of load placed on the rolling elements before the application of any external loads. Preload can be created in "X" and "C" type bearings by controlling internal fits of the ball and the raceway at the factory. Preload in angular contact bearings is controlled by a "preload gap" between the duplexed races. Tight mounting conditions will increase the final bearing preload. Preload stiffens the bearing and eliminates axial and radial play, but the load on the balls increases friction and shortens L10 life.
