Mohon dibantu padanan paling klop untuk terminologi di atas. Konteksnya adalah tentang jenis-jenis refrigerator & freezer sbb:

"If free standing models are to be used, they should be of the commercial type ...."

Saya ngerti maksudnya adalah model yang tidak "surface (wall/ceiling)-mounted". Tapi kalo diterjemahkan "model yang berdiri bebas", kok kedengarannya gak enak ya !?

Explanation:
Free-standing itu biasanya kalau mebel, itu yang ada kakinya, jadi tidak harus menempel /dipasang melekat ke tembok atau kalau oven tidak jadi bagian meja/lemari dapur. Jadi kalau oven misalnya, ini oven yang berdiri sendiri, kompor besar, ada kakinya, kalau yang ga free-standing, misalnya oven itu masuk ke dalam lemari dapur, jadi waktu bikin lemari dapur, ovennya di'built'in di situ. Nah kalau free standing itu memang lepas, bisa berdiri sendiri. NIh contoh gambarnya di web di bawah ini
