agree  Sven Petersson: Translation is perfect, but they are on the front legs. The claws on the hind legs are called "Afterkrallen" or "Wolfskrallen"; ""wolf claws" in English.

-> Thanks, Sven. Of course, you're right and what I meant was the "Wade" of the front legs. (For me the dog is all legs - sorry, am not much of a veterinarian... :-)

disagree  Sven Petersson: Please see my "Agree" under Barbara's answer. - Addendum: Dew claws are on the front legs; wolf claws are on the hind legs.

-> I´m a bit confused now. The asker does not really indicate if the front or the hind legs are concerned? Or am I missing something?

agree  Cetacea: Contrarily to what Sven writes, many breed associations use "dewclaws" for "Afterkrallen", e.g. http://www.greatpyrenees.com/europe.html
