Fazit für mich (bestimmt keine Pflanzenexpertin): der Begriff ist vielleicht ein wenig doppelt gemoppelt. Die oben stehenden Übersetzungen scheinen Synonyme zu sein.

In deinem Fall nehme ich an, ist die Zierpflanze gemeint, die wirklich spektakulär groß ist.
Taro wird (meist) in Art Beeten angebaut, wo die Pflanze erhöht wächst und Wasser in Gräben drum herum Wasser steht (Mücken!!)
