disagree  Brigitte Keen-Matthaei: "Schotterweg" is incorrect. I lived on a "graded dirt road" for many years. It was "eine unasphaltierte Straße", certainly not "Schotter", implying stone. Once in a while, a grader would come by and level it again.

  -> In US, Brigitte, gravel roads are "Schotterpisten"; lived on one as well!
