They started drilling the Pennsylvanian Bend Shale as a possible shale gas target in the Palo Duro Basin of Texas in 2004. The company accumulated over 450,000 acres of land in the basin. The first wells were drilled in 2005 with mixed results. After drilling 5 wells with an average depth of over 3000 meters they began revaluating the area.

Das Pennsylvanium (engl. Pennsylvanian) ist ein geologisches Zeitalter, der Bend-Tonschiefer eine geologische Formation.

Als Geologe würde ist mir das "Oberkarbon" geläufiger, wissenschaftlich korrekt ist "Pennsylvanium".

Die Bezeichnung richtet sich nicht nach der geografischen Lage, sondern nach dem sog. "Typvorkommen" in Pennsylvania.
