Es geht um die Beschreibung eines Verfahrens zur Dieselgewinnung aus Kunststoffabfällen: Erhitzen - Cracken - Destillieren. Bin nicht ganz sicher, ob der Text von einem Muttersprachler stammt und der Begriff "oxygen seal" daher nur etwas schräg ist, oder ob ich grad auf der Leitung steh. (Musste auch ein wenig über das "liquid sausage" schmunzeln, das mir so noch nicht untergekommen ist.)

The plastics continue into an extruder whereby it is heated and melted by 250 C and transported as a liquid sausage into the reactor through a closed heated pipe. This system works as an *oxygen seal*.

Explanation:
Herbies Vorschlag klingt auch gut, aber in seinem Link sieht das eher nach einer Sauerstoffsperrschicht aus.

Was ich verstehe, ist, dass man im Reaktor keine Luft/O2 haben will und daher die Masse durch dieses Rohr schleust.

Aber das ist nur eine Anregung...

Es geht darum, dass der geschmolzene Kunststoff nicht oxidiert, i.e. anfängt zu brennen.
