There are many advantages of having your own sound system and learning how to use it. It can be very handy, as many venues and organisers don't have a decent sound system. You can then double as an engineer for other events and make some money that way, or use it to wheedle your way onto the bill as a performer.

Ist hier gemeint, dass man sich als zweiter Techniker etwas dazuverdient? Mir ist das "double" hier nicht ganz klar. Für Ratschläge wäre ich dankbar.
