Schlagfell


Explanation:
They used to be skin from some poor animal, end English drummmers still take about skins. Of course "Schlagfell" is for rock/pop/jazz etc. drums (I remember my brother used to use Remo skins) - for other styles Trommelfell or Paukenfell, depending on the instrument.
