wenn ich das richtig sehe, ist der Begriff V-Formation im Deutschen unüblich?

Another big change was made in the physical set-up of the band. Instead of setting up in the normal „Block“ formation with saxes/trombones/trumpets in three rows and the rhythm section on the side, the band reverted back to the „V“ formation used by the Stan Kenton Orchestra in the 1960´s and 1970´s.

Explanation:
Ich glaube nicht, daß das im Englischen ein Fachbegriff ist, sondern eher eine bildliche Umschreibung. Deshalb würde ich es auf Deutsch genauso machen: "V"-Formation.
