English term or phrase: emo
XXX's music contains elements of punk and pop, but they aren't pop-punk. Likewise, XXX's songs are emotional and their lyrics can be poignant, but they're certainly ***not emo***. XXX incorporate their dark sense of humour within their songs which abound with clever, biting lines.

Any ideas for a German translation of "emo" here?

Thanks in advance!

emo

Explanation:
"emo" is short for a style of hard rock that is "supposedly" "emo"-tional in spite of its hardness. Keep the English word. It's like "Gesunheit." We don't translate that into English when some sneezes! (or Kindergarten, or angst, or ersatz, or gestalt, or...)

Viel Spaß!

-> You're absolutely right, Steffen. It must be "Emo" in German. Thank you for clarifying that point. I owe you one my friend! ;) Let me know if I can ever be of help to you. Viel Spaß!
