Medical - Military / Defense / injuries / illness
English term or phrase: NFCI ( non freezing cold injury)
From a possible court case against the British Ministry of Defence which is being prepared on behalf of soldiers who have suffered from cold related injuries while on active duty. Apparently resulting from poor equipment / clothing as well as mistakes being made by officers / trainers - sending the soldiers out in inclement conditions without suitable protection. The term first came up in the Falkland`s war where soldiers had limbs amputated after suffering too much cold exposure. Is there a suitable German phrase, please?

@Spud: dann wäre vielleicht der allgemeine Begriff Kälteschäden, wie von Brigitte vorgeschlagen, am besten. Hier z.B http://www.springerlink.com/content/rx347172442421r2/ oder hier http://www.spomed.sport.uni-mainz.de/Dateien/Lokale_Verbrenn... sieht man, was alles darunter fällt.

Notes to answerer
Asker: @Annette, whilst appreciating your references, all very informative, the injuries suffered by the soldiers involved were often caused by being exposed to temperatures around 1 or 2 degrees , for long periods, they were not always wet or immersed in water, the feet were not the only problem areas, some lost the use of their fingers/hands etc. Do you have any other suggestions, please?

Asker: Thank you for your suggestion, as proposed I have gone for Kälteschaden although it does not convey the full term I can integrate it in the text.
