Luftwaffe Generaloberst Explanation: If as I suspect this person is being described as "commander of the flight line (i.e. branch, or air force) Colonel (should have been Caps.) Baloban", then I think this might get round the problem, as the title is very likely to be "Colonel-General", and to have been abbreviated. The best idea is to ask the Turkish Embassy for confirmation... |

Kommandeur Fliegende Gruppe Oberst Explanation: Der erste Teil (flight line commander) beschreibt die Tätigkeit, der zweite (colonel) den Dienstgrad. Da die Aufgaben des flight line commanders nicht genau bekannt sind, denke ich dass die Tätigkeitsbezeichnung am ehesten vergleichbar ist mit dem Kommandeur Fliegende Gruppe der deutschen Luftwaffe und Marine, siehe Link 2. Der Dienstgrad ist laut NATO vergleichbar mit einem Oberst, siehe Link 1. Ich war selbst in einer fliegenden Gruppe tätig.
