English term or phrase: data centre sprawl
IT, computers

Paragraph describes how companies are dealing with data floods and then writes: "This shift has led to the phenomenon of data centre sprawl."

It's quite clear what is meant here, but is there a snappy German term for this?

agree  Dipl.-Ing. Robert Bach (X): "über sich hinaus wachsenden Datenzentren" puts the sprawl in the data centers rather than in the number thereof. While both could apply, 20 years ago it would have been the number, now it is their ubiquity in a company etc..

-> Thank you; this is why I made that second suggestion

disagree  Aniello Scognamiglio (X): no, Francis, both would not work, "pilzförmig" (shape)? No! "über sich hinauswachsen" has a different meaning.
