English term or phrase: to deploy / deployment
I come across this all the time and would appreciate some input from IT specialists:

I know that 'Deployment' can be used in German as well, along with the awkward sounding verb 'deployen.' However, I try to avoid the latter and have frequently used 'installieren' instead. Is this a good solution? I'm getting the sense that in some cases there is a difference between installing and deploying a software solution. What is it? What are the correct German equivalents?

bereitstellen / zur Verfügung stellen

Explanation:
I know exactly where you're coming from with your question! It's one of "those" terms... where finding a good equivalent is tough.

I've often seen (and used) "bereitstellen", and where it was appropriate within the context, I have also used "zur Verfügung stellen". (The latter espec. in the context where a developer or administrator puts a software solution on the web or on a server for his users to download at their leisure.)

Just a couple of alternatives, hope they help.
