Ich glaube es handelt sich hier am ehesten um eine Petschaft, ein Siegel, das in ein weiches Material gedrückt wird und keine Farbe benötigt. Siegelanhänger Explanation: Laut Concise English Dictionary kann fob auch ein Anhänger sein. Aus dem Kontext schliesse ich, dass es sich hier um eine Taschenuhr mit Siegelanhänger handelt. Es gibt ein paar Ghits, leider konnte ich jedoch keine Abbildung finden. |

This name derived from the fashion of attaching them to a watch-chain or ribbon which was carried in the 'fob' (pocket) originally in the breeches waist-band. Fob seals enjoyed a wide appeal as a fashion accessory from this time until the 1830's, their height of popularity being in the Georgian period. Advertisements in contemporary newspapers illustrate the fashion:- (lost) 'A gold watch.....with a seal and a Key of a Cabinet tyed to it in a sattin Ribbon' Kingdome's Intelligencer, February 11th, 1661 vielleicht einfach nur als Taschensiegel beschreiben? |
