Kann mir jemand bei der Übersetzung für *bulk head*behilflich sein?

Kontext:
Remove the rack gear toward the driver side of the steering gear to prevent the bulk head in the steering gear housing from damaging in installing and removing the rack gear.

Explanation:
Bei Autos heißt das Blech zwischen Innenraum und Motorraum "Spritzwand".
Der Satz ist aber als Ganzes komisch.
"...to prevent the bulk head in the steering gear housing..."
Hört sich an als ob die Spritzwand IM Lenkgehäuse ist???

Explanation:
Zwischen dem Motorraum und den Vordersitzen liegt das vordere Querblech und zwischen dem Kofferraum und den Rücksitzen das hintere Querblech. Das vordere wird es hier wohl sein. Sollte man aber nochmal nachprüfen.
