Aamen. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 20 hrs (2007-05-11 11:20:58 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Hello Marie. I take a look at the site you suggested. Here: http://216.239.59.104/search?q=cache:zQb14rsg90IJ:www.spinen... you can see screws, where the heads of them work as joints. These screws are called 'angled screws'. I would call them 'nivelkantaruuvi' in Finnish. Of cource, if you ask any Finn what 'nivelkantaruuvi' means, nobody can explain it. But when they see these screws and know how they function, they would say: "Quite a good name". These angled screws (or joint-screws) must have a cap, otherwise, of course, the joint does not work. I guess that these "capped" screws are called 'closed screws'. 'Suljettu ruuvi' might be good equivalent in Finnish (Again, no Finn understands what it means, but when they see it...) "Open screw" apparently is (I am guessing all the time) the one having no cap, it can be called "avoin ruuvi" in Finnish. "Fixed screw" seems to be the one having no joint ("non-angled"), that is, just a normal screw. It can be called "kiinteä ruuvi" in Finnish. |
