Listerioza

Infekcija bakterijom Listeria monocytogenes može se manifestirati različitim simptomima, odnosno oni mogu varirati. Može uzrokovati upalu pluća, sepsu ili, najčešće, meningitis kod novorođenčadi. Većina ljudi zarazi se ovom bakterijom putem kontaminirane hrane, s obzirom da listerija živi na tlu i tako prijeđe na voće i povrće. Hrana koja nije dobro oprana, parsterizirana ili kuhana može uzrokovati listeriozu.

Bebe je mogu dobiti preko majke u trudnoći ili za vrijeme porođaja kada dolazi do kontakta sa sekretom genitalnih organa majke. U najtežim oblicima, ako se beba zarazi listeriozom još u trudnoći, može doći do prijevremenog porođaja, pa čak i djetetove smrti. Bebe zaražene tijekom porođaja najčešće obole od meningitisa, nakon 1-2 tjedna inkubacije. Simptomi meningitisa su napetost fontanele, razdražljivost, konvulzije i koma.

Kako se dijagnosticira i liječi?

Prisutnost bakterije mogu pokazati krvne ili pretrage spinalne tekućine, a inficirana se beba liječi antibioticima u bolnici.
