When using the translation “对方付费电话”(dui fang fu fei dian hua), we have to pay attention to the fact that this phrase can only be used at the standpoint of the *caller*.
As the word “对方”(dui fang, literally the other end of the line) is related to the speaker or listener, it sometime courses confusions. In a scenario where the operator says to the *receiver*: \"Would you like to *receive* an international collect call? \", it should definitely not be translated into \"你愿意接一个对方付费的国际电话吗?”(ni yuanyi jie yige duifang fufei de guoji dianhua ma? Literally: Would you like to receive an international phone call pay by the other side?). Instead we should translate it into something like ：“您愿意接一通由您付费的国际长途电话吗？(nin yuanyi jie yitong you ning fufei de guoji changtu tianhua ma? Literally: Would you like to receive an international call and pay for it?)” Because here, for the receiver, “对方” means the caller, and “对方付费” can only mean \"pay by the caller\", and this is just the opposite of what the operator means.
