一般的公司里director的职位比manager要高
日文里manager是课长（相当中文的科长），director是部长（与中文的处长相当，不过有的场合译成处长可能感到别扭）。

呵呵，上面说的日语里的对应习惯。不同公司内部还少有差别，不管怎么说翻译director的时候，还有考虑manager，得让人感到director的职位比manager要高。我看给出的三个答案里，"总监"符合这个要求。
